A Combinatorial Identity Arising from Cobordism Theory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Let α = (α1, α2, · · · , αm) ∈ R>0. Let αi,j be the vector obtained from α by deleting the entries αi and αj . Besser and Moree [1] introduced some invariants and near invariants related to the solutions ∈ {±1}m−2 of the linear inequality |αi −αj | < 〈 , αi,j〉 < αi +αj , where 〈, 〉 denotes the usual inner product and αi,j the vector obtained from α by deleting αi and αj . The main result of Besser and Moree [1] is extended here to a much more general setting, namely that of certain maps from finite sets to {−1, 1}.

Combinatorial Cobordism Maps in Hat Heegaard Floer Theory
In a previous paper, Sarkar and the third author gave a combinatorial description of the hat version of Heegaard Floer homology for three-manifolds. Given a cobordism between two connected three-manifolds, there is an induced map between their Heegaard Floer homologies. Assume that the first homology group of each boundary component surjects onto the first homology group of the cobordism (modul...
متن کاملThe Hopf Ring for Complex Cobordism
It is our purpose here to announce the results of our study of the homology of the spaces in the £2-spectrum for complex cobordism and BrownPeterson cohomology. Let MU(n) be the standard Thorn complex. MUk = l im^^ ü,(~~)MU(n) is the 2k space in the £2-spectrum for complex cobordism. We will consider the space MU — hmn^_00 Iï ;>n MUf-. We find this product easier to study than the separate fact...
متن کاملAlgebraic Aspects of the Theory of Product Structures in Complex Cobordism
We address the general classification problem of all stable associative product structures in the complex cobordism theory. We show how to reduce this problem to the algebraic one in terms of the Hopf algebra S (the Landweber-Novikov algebra) acting on its dual Hopf algebra S∗ with a distinguished “topologically integral” part Λ that coincids with the coefficient ring of the complex cobordism. ...
متن کاملCombinatorial Proofs of Identities in Ramanujan’s Lost Notebook Associated with the Rogers–fine Identity and False Theta Functions
Ramanujan’s lost notebook contains several identities arising from the Rogers–Fine identity and/or Rogers’ false theta functions. Combinatorial proofs for many of these identities are given.
متن کاملA Combinatorial Approach to Topological Quantum Eld Theories and Invariants of Graphs
The combinatorial state sum of Turaev and Viro for a compact 3-manifold in terms of quantum 6j-symbols is generalized by introducing observables in the form of coloured graphs. They satisfy braiding relations and allow for surgeries and a discussion of cobordism theory. Application of these techniques gives the dimension and an explicit basis for the vector space of the topological quantum eld ...
